Atomium

This sculpture of 102 m high, located at 20 km from the Ramada Brussels Woluwe, is the work of André Waterkeyn. It was created in 1958 on the occasion of the Brussels World Fair.

Initially, the Atomium was designed to be exhibited for six months, but due to its success, its destruction was constantly postponed, from one year to the next, until it was decided to let the work sit in the heart of the capital.

Over the years, the Atomium has become the symbol of Brussels and Belgium on an international scale. It is the most visited tourist site every year.

And for good reason, this iron atom, which measures 165 billion times its real size, is also an extraordinary art gallery!

Throughout the year, take advantage of a permanent exhibition that retraces the history of the most impressive monument in Brussels, from its creation to its reopening in 2006.

The exhibition is spread over three levels: in the basic sphere (on levels 1 and 2), then on level 7 in the panorama space, located at 92 m height.

During your visit, consult photos, videos and models that will accompany you on the traces of the Atomium’s history. In addition to this permanent exhibition, there are temporary exhibitions, each more original than the last.

Visit the interior of the different spheres, and take the opportunity to stop at the restaurant, where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner, and contemplate from the highest sphere, a breathtaking view of the city of Brussels. Enjoy Belgian specialties and traditional dishes made with seasonal products in an exceptional setting!

While visiting the area, you can also make a detour to the Chinese and Japanese pavilions.

Welcome to Brussels!
